Dear Foodies & Friends,
It has been several months now since I last wrote on the blog, and I felt like I owed it to all of you to explain why I needed this time off, and to fill you in on some of the things that have been going on in my life. As I write this, I feel both nervous and relieved at the same time. You know those butterflies in your stomach when you’re getting back into something you haven’t done in a long time? It’s taken me a while, but I am happy that I’m finally in the right head space to start blogging again, because this is truly a passion of mine.
The biggest reason why I took some time off was to focus on law school. Third year was a roller coaster and required a lot of time and focus. One of the mottos I live by is that if you love something, you have to put your heart and soul into it. So, I made the decision to just wait until I had more time and energy to dedicate to my cooking and writing.
In the meantime, I have been working on my Instagram profile (check it out here), which if you know me is a little bit of a task, since social media is not really my cup of tea. Most importantly, I set up my first ever food stall in March during a college fest. It was a great learning experience, and really surpassed my expectations (which to be fair, were quite low). I could not have done it without the support of my amazing friends and I’m so grateful for all the help I received.
After that came summer, and I spent six wonderful weeks de-stressing from the past year and indulging all my food cravings.
- One of the highlights of my summer, and definitely the best plate of beef I’ve ever had.
Initially, I had plans to start blogging again in the summer, but I guess I just wasn’t ready. Fast forward to now, and I think I’m in a better place. I have a relatively more relaxed semester, which means more time to focus on food, and myself. I’m planning another food stall for this weekend’s Lit Fest. It’s an exciting and nervous experience and I can’t wait.
- The menu for my stall this weekend!
I know that getting back into the rhythm of things is going to take some time, I just have to be patient and push through. I have so many ideas and plans for this year and as soon as I figure things out, I’ll share them with you.
Thank you for your support, love and encouragement.
With Love & Lots of Butter,
Sizzles & Strings
